German submarine ''U-449'' was a Type VIIC U-boat of Nazi Germany's ''Kriegsmarine'' during World War II. She carried out one patrol. She sank no ships. She was sunk by British warships northwest of Cape Ortegal, Spain in June 1943. ==Design== German Type VIIC submarines were preceded by the shorter Type VIIB submarines.
